Visit the Carrboro Farmers Market for Farm Fresh Local Produce
There isn't a better time to visit your local farmers market than National Farmers Market Week, which is being celebrated this year from August 5th to 11th. Farmers markets are an important ingredient in our food system and they help our community grow strong by providing us with healthy, natural food and friendly, long-term friendships. Not all communities can boast about a farmers’ market quite like ours, but luckily the Carrboro Farmers' Market has been bringing us fresh, locally-produced goods each week for 40 years. Located in the Carrboro Town Commons, 100 vendors sell a diverse selection of locally-grown produce, pasture-raised meats, eggs, cheeses, breads, pastries, and artisanal woodwork, metalwork, pottery, woven rugs, baskets, and more. Whether you're gift-shopping for a friend back home or just looking for some delicious, locally-grown food, the Carrboro Farmers Market is sure to satisfy the most seasoned of food-lovers and the greenest of green thumbs.
Get a true taste of the area when you shop or eat at the Carrboro Farmers Market; after all, you're chowing down on the fresh food we've grown in the soil you see around you. You're also buying it straight from the farmer. With a national trend in favor of "farm-to-table" dining, there is something truly special about walking among the vendors, selecting your produce, and meeting the farmers. It's an experience you don't get at the grocery store.
Find your favorites or try something new. Just Bee Apiary is a chemical free-bee apiary that follows Certified Naturally Grown standards to sell raw local honey, infused honey, and black raspberries. Sounds good, right? The family-owned operation harvests, bottles, and sells all of their own honey. On the other end of the spectrum, Foster's Custom Steel sells original artwork in the form of metal sculptures and architectural elements like archways, wall hangings, and more from recycled material out of scrapyards and auto shops. You'll also find pottery, rugs, baskets, baked goods, and even pasta.
Carrboro Farmers Market is currently open Saturdays 7AM-12PM and Wednesdays 3PM-6PM. For more information visit the website.
